I would just like to send out a big shout out to kifaru customer service. They are absolutely AWESOME to deal with. In an age of computers, recordings and emails it is a breath of fresh air to talk to a real person when you have a question or issue about their products.
I bought and used the BT1 all last hunting season. I hunt hard and in rough terrain, like most members here, I don’t abuse my gear but I use it for its intended purpose. It has to be tough, it will get dirty and it may get dinged up a bit. You can scroll through my scouting and hunting trip posts to see how the pack worked for me but to sum it up, it is by far the best pack I ever owned and used. The frame is fantastic at hauling heavy loads and is super comfy. With anything less than 50#’s I often forget it’s on my back. The bag was made for the way I hunt, just enough pockets for what I need and webbing straps where they need to be. While the new EMR II looks tempting I have no reason not to continue using the T1.
However, after hauling a ram off the mountains then 10 miles to the truck; 2 moose out of rolling hills and nasty timber falls for an average of 5 miles; and my elk for another 10 km or so of rolling hills and meadows, my pack was used well and did develop a few minor issues.
The hip belt d-loop on my right power pull would twist when tightening with a load and some stitching came loose on the lumbar pad and shoulder strap.
I waited until the end of January to call kifaru and send it in for repairs. I spoke with Heath who was great to deal with and answered all my questions gave quick instructions on what to do, that call was quickly followed up by one from Angie who made sure I was satisfied with everything and confirmed some details.
Then the next day Aron gave me a call to go through all my issues and generally shoot the chit. I have spoken to him before on a few different occasions and was not expecting him to call since he is so busy and always having people pulling him from one direction and another. I was more than happy with the people I already dealt with from Kifaru and having Aron call me just to make sure I was taken care of is more than above and beyond great customer service. I am a business owner and consultant. I know the importance of good client relations, and we treat our clients’ great but Kifaru makes me take a second look to see if we can be better.
On top of that, I live in Canada and Customs \ boarder like to rape us canucks with outrageous fees every chance they can. I let kifaru know this and they threw in some extras to off-set my costs for shipping and receiving. My bikini frame also arrived with a brand new tactical belt and lumbar pad. It looks like a new bikini frame. Just fantastic, I threw on the pack and it was BUTTER…! I had been training with a Badlands Summit the month before and the Bikini frame is head and tails a better in every way. It really made me appreciate my pack that much more.
Yes Kifaru is $pendy but you pay for a quality product that is tested to ensure it dose what they say and for fantastic customer service to fix or deal with any issues that may arise.
Money well spent and I will be making more purchases from Kifaru in the future, they take care of their customers like they are taking care of a friend.
