When using the power pulls, they slip. I have to yank on them several times to get them to stay. Is there a trick?

Its not uncommon and not a sizing issue. That is why Kifaru now puts two plastic power pull loops on their belts. You put it through both, then back through one. Just like a double d-loop belt. When you pull the belt tight it is completely locked in solid. The single d-loop power pull will tighten up. You just have to tug it a few times to get it to bite. The newer model is a huge improvement.

I have had to send in two belts because of this issue, first was a ku pack second my bikini frame. The webbing or whatnot was sewen off which created an uneven tensioning and allowed the webbing to not hold. In both of my issues it was only on one side. I would tighten the bad side first and then crank down on the good side.

Just received my fixed belt back for the bikini and it is now rock solid and works awesome so this could be the issue as well. Give Kifaru a call and they will get you taken care of.

Any chance that anyone has pictures of the "defective" belt? Sure would make it easier for future people to identify the problem.

I'm struggling with my belt also. The large belt bottoms out on me but the medium is too small. I have to play with it to get it tight. Kifaru needs to make an in between size. SHTF and I are having the same problem.

I just tilt the front buckle forward as if to loosen the belt, then pull the strap to tighten and mine holds fine. Never comes loose.

The pull the buckle up trick is what I do but it is hard to keep the pack where it needs to be and do this. I've lost a bunch of weight and my fladdy fat gets squished up. This makes it hard to get at the buckle while bent over enough to keep the pack in place while tightening it . When I get upright enough to get at the buckle the pack wants to slide down. I'm getting tired of fighting it.
SHTF , I'm in a loose 38" waist now. I think it has more to do with your underlying bone structure. My fat squeezes up and out of the way but way back in the day when I was a skinny guy my waist was 35". Too big for a 34" and too small for a 36". I had to buy 36"pants and have them taken in. I think that even if I loose the rest of the weight I want and get down to 220lbs I will still have the belt size problem. The solution is a med/large belt. An inch or more padding on each side or just split the difference on the pad length. It's so close but so far away.

I have a few pics I can show you when I bring the pack, a pain uploading pics here :)

You can compare them to the fixed ones on the pack. Hard to tell though until you get some weight and use on the pack.

Interesting comment. I've had the same issue tightening mine. I order early and only have a one loop power pull. Usually it pulls tight but doesn't thread the belt so one half the belt gets pulled tight but not pulled through the buckle. When I let go I realize it didn't tighten. The belt has broken in some which helps. Also I now know to pull a couple times until it threads through the buckle. Not a big deal.

Also I stopped by the shop and noticed a couple new extra attachments to roll up the extra length on several of the straps to keep the strap from flopping around. Seems Kifaru has added some extra bells and whistles now that the packs have been out for a while. I imaging most on here would not want the extra weight since its easy to tuck the straps somewhere on the pack. Again. It abig deal, but good to see the continuous improvement.

The best fix is to have the locking part at the power pull end and not on the buckle. Similar to the Osprey packs. Then there is no loss of tension. You pull 1" thru the belt is 1" smaller.

The pack is brand new. Wonder why I didn't get the new design? Any way to retrofit?

Not following you Dougiefresh, got any pics?

Nate, it isn't a mod. It would be using the Ospry design. Their power pull belt has the tensioner on the side near the waist belt and it free flows near the buckle. Much more efficient, consistent and reliable system.....that is the only criticism I have ever had with Kifaru stuff.

I've got the same issue and my pack arrived less than two months ago. It's annoying to be pulling and adjusting a slipping belt when you're balancing 70-90lbs on your back.

I have the same issue. Kuiu has the same system as Osprey... 100% better. Kifaru should copy it... Ed F

They are now sewing dual plastic power pull rings onto the belts. You put the webbing through both rings then weave it back through one. When you pull your belt tight it is not budging what so ever.

Is there a retrofit available? My T3 is brand new and it apparently has the older style pulls. Bummer.

Will do man, but likely tomorrow. Dentist just beat up my face and I can't talk right now! Thanks.

The two D rings on the packs have nothing to do with tensioning on the power pull system. The tensioning comes from the buckle only. The original reason of the two D rings were for a piggy back system of attaching a pack to a pack.

Any weaving of the tag end of the waist belt is just people trying different things. The issue is not a huge deal for most.
