I have used, bought/sold a bunch of packs/frames (1st gen KUIU, 1st gen EXO, mystery ranch NICE, SG, Kifaru) over the years. Tried on the SG X-Curve frame when it first came out and the profile is too aggresive. I still have a Kifaru Duplex Hunter, Kifaru 14'r and these two old school SG KRUX frames. I don't think I need any more frames and I think these will last me til I'm old.
Just finished patching this up today. Kifaru belt and shoulder strap mod on an old school SG Krux frame. This is a loner/back up frame that my wife sometimes use when she's out with me and complains about the SG belt not locking down as well as the Kifaru belt.
It's been 5 years since I modified my other Krux frame and and mods have proven to be quite comfortable.
Newly modified on left, my original one on right. The one on the right has aluminum curved stays fitted to my back profile and weighs a bit more than the flat carbon fiber stays (3.5lbs aluminum stays vs 2.7lbs CF stays)

Kifaru Belt on Krux Frame
There are a few things I have come to really like: 1. The compactness and rigidity of the SG frame. 2. The Kifaru belt with the webbing. 3. The Kifaru grabit. The SG detachable load shelf gets a guy to the same place, but all of my SG is "vintage" with the shelf attached to the bag. I find...
