I will be running a Kifaru Argali for archery elk this year, and was hoping to get some feedback on how I set up, and load my pack. I am pretty motivated to keep the pack weight down, so am resisting the urge to add too many pockets. Here is the basic set-up:
- Kifaru Duplex Frame
- Argali Pack
- Small Medium Belt Pouch on the belt
- Nalgene Bottle Pocket on the Pack
- Guide Lid
- AGC Bino Harness
I load the pack as follows:
- sleeping bag in a dry bag at the bottom
- shelter, extra clothing, cook set, in a big dry bag (pretty much everything besides possibles)
- Food Bag
- In the lid: possibles pouch, puffy, kill kit
- In the belt pouch: Streripen, Compass
- In the bino harness: binos, range finder, wind checker, fire starting kit.
I would be interested in any thoughts from guys running an Argali or similar pack (i.e. a pack with few external pockets.)
