Kifaru 5 string stuff sack?

No the Kifaru is not waterproof. I however put it in a contractors trash bag that I have with me anyway. The Kifaru does eliminate the football effect that most stuff sacks create in your pack. The Kifaru 5 string packs great.

The five string compresses things extremely well. I keep my bag in a bivy compressed in the five string which keeps my sleep system dry. I prefer the shape of the five string compared to other compression bags I have used. It fits perfectly at the bottom of my pack which gives me more efficient pack space. It also makes for a great seat when you loosen the strings completely.

My bag is an Cabela's Trecker 4 if I recall(Quallofill Insulation). I've had it forever and it's been a good bag for me, I'd just like to compress it down smaller then the stuff sack it came with and I figured I may as well keep it dry as well.

If you need a waterproof stuff sack the Kifaru isn't it. If you plan on flogging through rivers and falling in lakes, go waterproof.

StS compression bags are great for just that.

I'd just like the insurance. Does anybody really plan on falling in a creek or getting there sleeping bag wet? IMO a 10 day hunt, 3 states away from home isn't a good time to be wishing for a $10 waterproof sack!

I like insurance to but theres no need to complicate it. I flipped my raft last moth, all my shit was underwater. Sleeping bad included.

Consider a waterproof pack liner.

I appreciate the feedback, I'm just wondering why a compression sack inside a waterproof sack is complicated? I was mainly wondering if the Kifaru 5 string was waterproof. It isn't, no biggy...the $10 KUIU bag solves that(At least I think it will)! If I'm pulling out my sleeping bag, it's not like I'm in a rush at that time.

I really like the looks of those kuiu bags and I like the price even better. ive been thinking about picking one up im just not sure what size. mainly because I haven't figured out what I need it for yet

Efficiency. Stretching every piece of kit in multiple ways.

So rather than a 5 string in a dry bag, get a pack liner to keep everything dry.

That or you'll have many dry bags.

Another option is a Kifaru quarter bag. Doubles as a pack liner and will keep gear clean but requires seam seal.

I picked up 2 mediums if you wanna check one out when they get here for size reference.

I have a few of the kuiu bags and really like them. They're waterproof which is nice and you're able to compact them well with the roll top. They weigh next to nothing and so far mine have been really durable. Only downfall is they're dark so you can't see inside them.

Littlebuf, got them yesterday if you want to take a look.
