Any body know what these tabs were designed to be used for?

Theses on the rear sides of the pack. Trying to determine what they designed these to be used for? Any ideas?

Just another option for securing stuff with sting or Paracord is what I use them for. My fishing rod and pole lay across those two loops nice and I secure it on with cord.
I think they may have been sewn on as potential grab handles though. Not sure.

Its to run the Sherman strap through then attach it to the bag
