I have 2 girls (5yr and 10yr old). looking to Grab a .22lr to get them practiced up and was looking at the two mentioned rifles. I like that the Rossi is magazine fed which would be more versatile long term, but optics mounting for the Rossi seems limited by the open sights from what I am reading. Honestly thinking of just putting a red dot on either option as most scopes will seem very large on these rifles. Does anyone currently have experience shooting and mounting optics to either one? recommendations?

Thanks!

I talked my 8 year old son int buying a Rossi with the money he saved up because I wanted him to able to practice getting follow up shots and firearm safety with a rifle similar to a bolt action hunting rifle.

I did a little research and ended up getting a CVLife 8x32 compact scope off Amazon for it and it fits perfect.

I really like the scope too. It has drop lines if you want to extend the range a little. One time it was standing up and fell and hit the barrel hard. Scope didn't shift zero.

It's taken a few squirrels and grouse over the past year.

Thanks, that’s what i needed to see and I like the idea of the follow-up capability as well. Did you mount the scope with the included rings?

Yeah, the rings came with it. Make sure to get the 3/8 dovetail rings

Edit: I guess it's 11mm dovetail mount. The standard dovetail, not picatinny
