What kids pack do yall run? I’d like to find a pack that could eventually carry a little weight for my son’s camp outs in scouts and our hunting trips.

Call me biased, but in my opinion these are the best ones out there.

I bought my boys kuiu venture 1800’s. They seem to fit them ok but they don’t pack much more than their food and clothing. The 12 year old packed one deer and he didn’t complain about it.

They’re a pretty cheap pack but they were also inexpensive so we kind of got what we paid for.

The Durston Kakwa 55 has been an excellent choice for my 10 year old. The 2lb base weight of the pack compared to other kids options is dramatic. We did two multi-day backpack hunting trips this year, and my son loves the simple functionality along with the fit of the pack.

I don't see any reason for him to pack meat at this age. The Kakwa has enough space to stash my sleeping bag and possibly a few other bulky items when space is needed in my Barney's Pack for meat.

We owned an osprey Ace 50 pack, and I was happy to get rid of it in favor of the Durston.

We have two Western Edge gear packs, and they've been great. They're the only packs I found made for smaller kids and still pack some weight. My daughter and older son(17/15 now) has outgrown them, but my 12yo is still using his. I'm torn between selling it cause I hate storing stuff or holding on to it for grandkids. My daughter packed out 40-50lbs of Oryx in it when she was 14 and my sons helped pack my elk out two years ago. Plus multiple camping and hunting trips. We've had them since 2021 at least.
