Kids Donkey Saddle Recommends?

I’m looking for recommendations for a riding saddle that would work for young kids (under 10) and would fit well on a donkey.

Our riding donkey is 13h, but I would love to get a saddle that fits slightly smaller donkeys too, as we’re hoping to add a couple of blm donkeys soon.

I’m assuming there’s no good way to convert a pack saddle back and forth for kids riding, but I’d be interested in trying that if that’s possible. We’re not packing yet, but we’re planning on getting a pack saddle setup soon also.

It might be tricky to fit a riding saddle to a donkey so i would try a bunch of them and see how close you can get to making it fit.

Treeless saddles might be a good option too and maybe the direction i would lean first

I have no experience with donkeys yet but you may reach out to hopethewildburroplace on instagram. I believe I’ve seen her post her kids riding on blm sized donkeys. Or Shane weigand that has New Mexico pack burros may be able to help. Best of luck

hopethewildburroplace got back to me and had some helpful info & leads.
And I hadn’t heard of Shane Weigand, but it looks like he has a lot of helpful info specifically for donkeys.

Ive thrown a spare horse saddle on my donkey for the kids to ride around the pasture. To be honest as long as it doesnt fit like a train wreck I dont think I would worry too much about it when the rider is is under 100lbs.

They have been packing on donkeys in the middle east for 5000 to 7000 years. They go by the 50% body weight rule and sometimes tie mannies on their backs with just ropes, no pack saddle. Id say anything that can be cinched down tight would probably be ok for the weight of a young kid.
