Kenetrek SlideRock vs Lowa Ranger III/Camino Evo

I’m shopping for my first pair of good boots without breaking the bank. I found the Kenetrek boots on sale from the gear deals section and the Lowas on Sierra. Anyone have an idea how these compare? I want good ankle support without being overly stiff. I know that good boots are important, but at this point I don’t know what I don’t know.
