Hey guys. I'm in the market for a new tent for myself. The main use of this tent will be basically car camping while traveling the state of Georgia hunting public lands. Wondering what experiences ya'll have with Kelty as I have an opportunity to snag one up very reasonable. Thanks

I use a Kelty Late Start 2P tent for when I don’t need my canvas wall tent and it works great. It is easy to set up and durable.

The coldest night I spent in it was 38 degrees and I was comfortable. For late season I prefer my wall tent with a heat source.

Me being in Georgia, I'm not terribly concerned about getting too cold. It's pretty mild. I just spent a couple nights in the upper 20s in a coleman tent. Just want something smaller than the big family tent I have for when I'm alone

Yeah you may want to check out the Late Start. It packs fairly small and is decently lightweight. I only paid $140 for mine. Good tent for the price if you ask me. Sure Id prefer a BA Copper Spur for more weight savings but its hard to argue with the Kelty price tag.

I'm between that one and their Grand Mesa. Thinking about a 4P just so I have enough room to put my gear in and not be crammed

Your tent has little to do with your ability to withstand cold. Find your thinnest t-shirt and stand outside. That's how thick and insulating your tent will be. If I got a good deal on a Kelty though, I wouldn't pass it up

I found a 4 person kelty tent at a garage sale and used it for about 10 years until someone stole it while i was out hunting. It wasn't a backpacking tent, but used it as such for a while until i could afford something lighter. I miss that one though, it was a great tent!

At one point, I would have agreed with you. Then I used a legitimate 4-season tent in temps slightly below 0.

A good tent does indeed add warmth.
