Kelty Tactical Packs

The Redwing Tactical packs are on sale, was wondering if anyone has owned one ?


If so how do they perform ?

I have been issued 2 Kelty tactical packs, a 7800 cubic inch pack called the Eagle and a smaller 50 liter tactical pack. Both of them seem like decent quality packs and the smaller blue 50 liter pack is made in the US. They are comparable with some of the packs you would find at REI. I also have several Kifaru, Mystery Ranch, and Eberlestock packs that i have compared them with and the Kelty are not even in the same league as the Kifaru and MR. The big difference is how they carry weight. I packed the big Kelty with about 70 pounds of stuff and then put the same exact items in a MR 6500 that i was also issued a few years ago and the Kelty felt almost twice as heavy on my back. So if you are not carrying more that 50 pounds and want to save some money i think the Keltys are fine but if i was carrying more than 50 pounds i would make the upgrade to a Kifaru, MR, EXO,or SG.
