Was looking into this last week, researched here and on reddit. Really hard to find a perfectly level spot where I hunt and last year I woke up a few times with my feet poking the side of my tent, wetting my quilt.

Didn't want to use silicone/seam sealer as I don't want it to gather grit/dirt that could damage my tent and/or pad.

Found this cheap stuff on Amazon, got it yesterday. 3 ft piece weighs 1.95 oz.

I use that same stuff for this exact purpose. Cut a strip for under your shoulders and another for under your hips... problem solved.

Was thinking about best way to use it, initially was just going to put the 3 ft centered on the pad (under hips). Now thinking about it after your post, it may be better to break it into two piece and have one near the head. How big of a piece are you using on each spot?

As a tosser and turner, I had this problem for a long time. Using bivy sacks has really eliminated this issue, however. I have a MLD bivy sack that weighs a mere 4.7 oz and I even Leave it completely unzipped most of the time as it’s enough to keep me all contained, the cuben fiber floor adds a layer of ground sheet protection and there is a certain “gravity blanket” effect that keeps me from tossing and turning quite as much.

I started using it on a weight-limited fly-in hunt, so I only took what I felt was bare minimum. The more you use, the better it'll work. But the two strips have proven more than adequate for me.

Try the Matty McMatface from Seek Outside. That fixed the problem for me.

+1 for the EVA mat. I also have the one from Seek. Multi use as it adds a little insulation, sit pad, better than anything else in the event of a pad failure. Only downside being the size....

I personally wouldn't worry about silicon picking up dirt and damaging things, not any more than I would about a tacky underlayer doing same. It's lighter too.

had this problem last Saturday night. Set up camp in the dark, knew it wasn't perfect but thought it was close. Kept waking up down hill lol. We have a roll of this stuff in our kitchen already!

Did this last year and it’s worked great since.
