Keeping optics in your car or truck - degradation?

I know some people here always keep binoculars in their glove compartment or inside their truck cabin. Has anyone seen significant functional failure as a result of keeping their binoculars in the car through excessive cycles of summer heat?

And if binoculars were to fail in this way, do you think it would be covered by any of the lifetime warranties? I guess Vortex would replace but I'm thinking about the big 3.

Quite the opposite actually. I had pairs of bushnell legends and maven C.2's as car bino's for a while and before they sat in the car for a while both focus wheels were rough and somewhat choppy. After a few days sitting in the car they got warmed up enough to loosen the focus wheels to make them smooth and buttery. Wasn't expecting that. I don't know if I'd try it in the summer though, since the inside of my car easily hits 110 on some days. I don't think prolonged periods of extreme heat like that would be good for bino's
