I asked for tips/tactics/general areas. not honey holes lol thanks for the help mtnboy
Questions like this should be banned, what do you expect to happen? Somebody gives you a decent "general area" and then since you put the Unit # in the title for all of eternity when someone does a Google search this thread will be brought up, how long you think that "general area" is gonna still be good?

Here's a tactic, they are going to be moving all the time, find a spot you can sit and ambush them. Prepare to sit from daylight to dark every single day for as long as you can to MAYBE get a single chance at a buck.

It's also going to be absolutely bitter cold and high winds most days.

Have fun.

I just understand how the internet works that's all, it's pretty simple really.

I honestly see posting Unit #s, especially for OTC units, as completely disrespectful. Then throw in creating an account just to make a post like that well....

I love this approach, why not provide info on favorite hard-won locale(s) so others can avoid the misery of time spent outdoors?

Dude, there are 1,000 other hunters looking for a "general location" in that unit. And just as many if not more that hop on here first post "not asking for honey hole" for unit xx, never to be heard from again. It gets old pretty quick. Calling everyone names isn't going to help. So, here is your free advice/tip. Pick some areas to hunt that look good on the map, hunt hard and glass. If you don't see deer in a couple days move to the next spot. You will eventually figure it out.

Mule Deer in particular CRAVE roads...they love them! If you cruise enough backcountry roads you'll see some deer. Shoot those deer.

You are welcome!

I am going to start recommending "honey holes" in the units that surround my actual honey hole. Maybe I can use some of these people looking for a hand out to push game to me.

Here are my tips

1. Dont make your first post on a forum asking about specific units.
2. Dont think we are stupid enough to fall for the "not looking for honey holes" line. We have heard it once or twice...a day...for years.
3. Dont make your 3-4th post calling everyone names.
4. Come up with a game plan, show that you have done some due diligence and then come ask questions. A plan is not to buy tags. Ask us about tactics you are thinking may be effective. Ask about spots to camp, what the area looks like, items you may need, etc. You will get way more information that way.
5. Archery hunting deer during the rut can be hard because they are moving and when they do lock down, there is generally at least 1 doe, which means another set of eyes. Prepare to hunt does and spend sometime behind glass sitting for hours.
