Well, he shot a layered target of elk hide, thin slab of balliatic gel, big knuckle bone, and more stuff behind it. Bullet did not make it through the knuckle, and was already fragmenting heavily in the thin slab of gel before the bone.I'm going to guess the conclusion is that it is not adequate. Somebody let me know if he has any good arguments.
I think you are mistaken. I think you are thinking about his brother shooting the leg at 700 yards.I refuse to give that video a view because the guy is rather questionable as a person. Unless I'm mistaken this is the guy who thinks leg shooting a deer at 700 yards is an ethical hunting practice.

The he shot just elk hide, thin slab of gel, elk ribs, and more gel. That one would likely kill an elk, IMHO (he didn't think so, but I would disagree).
So basically he demonstrates that 77 grains of frangible bullet will make one hell of a wide and shreddy wound, which in some cases is plenty, but it isn't going to penetrate all that deep, which in some cases isn't plenty. Real shocker there, LOL.
Thats for the recap. Im not giving that guy any clicks.Well, he shot a layered target of elk hide, thin slab of balliatic gel, big knuckle bone, and more stuff behind it. Bullet did not make it through the knuckle, and was already fragmenting heavily in the thin slab of gel before the bone.

Fairly close range. Out of an 18" AR-15 I think he said. How far away were the shots taken from?
It’s the brother of that guy.I refuse to give that video a view because the guy is rather questionable as a person. Unless I'm mistaken this is the guy who thinks leg shooting a deer at 700 yards is an ethical hunting practice.

Well you can hit an elk in the leg with a 77tmk at 700 yards and it'll be a bang flop, they're that good.I refuse to give that video a view because the guy is rather questionable as a person. I'm guessing no control by doing a similar test with a "suitable" head stamp and bullet combination to validate the test construction.I gave it a click. Its exactly what you'd expect from him. Very high impact velocity, bull elk neck hide, 2" of ballistics gel, then a shoulder knuckle from a STEER, then another 6" of ballistics gel, a section of elk ribs, then another foot of gel.
Bullet opened on the neck hide, went through the 2" of gel and was stopped by the STEER knuckle.
He did at the end but didn’t show the results.I'm guessing no control by doing a similar test with a "suitable" head stamp and bullet combination to validate the test construction.

That's how I watched it, hahahaFor those that do take in the video (or listen to his podcast) JVB is more palatable at 2x speed…
Shoots it with a 338 everything explodes, fade to black. Does not show result.
