JVB testing the 77gr TMK for elk hunting

I refuse to give that video a view because the guy is rather questionable as a person. Unless I'm mistaken this is the guy who thinks leg shooting a deer at 700 yards is an ethical hunting practice.

I'm going to guess the conclusion is that it is not adequate. Somebody let me know if he has any good arguments.

Well, he shot a layered target of elk hide, thin slab of balliatic gel, big knuckle bone, and more stuff behind it. Bullet did not make it through the knuckle, and was already fragmenting heavily in the thin slab of gel before the bone.

The he shot just elk hide, thin slab of gel, elk ribs, and more gel. That one would likely kill an elk, IMHO (he didn't think so, but I would disagree).

So basically he demonstrates that 77 grains of frangible bullet will make one hell of a wide and shreddy wound, which in some cases is plenty, but it isn't going to penetrate all that deep, which in some cases isn't plenty. Real shocker there, LOL.

I think you are mistaken. I think you are thinking about his brother shooting the leg at 700 yards.

How far away were the shots taken from?

Thats for the recap. Im not giving that guy any clicks.

It’s the brother of that guy.

He’s still a dork though, he’s basically a pump for browning, leupold, silencer central and the 6.8 western.

I gave it a click. Its exactly what you'd expect from him. Very high impact velocity, bull elk neck hide, 2" of ballistics gel, then a shoulder knuckle from a STEER, then another 6" of ballistics gel, a section of elk ribs, then another foot of gel.

Bullet opened on the neck hide, went through the 2" of gel and was stopped by the STEER knuckle.

Well you can hit an elk in the leg with a 77tmk at 700 yards and it'll be a bang flop, they're that good.

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I'm guessing no control by doing a similar test with a "suitable" head stamp and bullet combination to validate the test construction.

Shoots it with a 338 everything explodes, fade to black. Does not show result.

So... are you guys telling me this guy finally had a chance to vindicate my beloved .338 as useful for something, and didnt even show the results???

Man screw that guy. Whenever I get assaulted by an elk/elephant/steer/deer thing I'll blast it with my .338 and post the results for yall.
