NOLS Alaska had their bi-annual gear sale today started at 7. I was there at 640 and there was already 30 cars parked and a line formed in the rain for the opener. At 715 they let us start shopping I and a couple other guys headed for the tents. There were 5 Hilleberg tents and several Mountain Hardware tents. The 3 man tents were gone before I realized it. I was looking at a 4 man and 2 guys came up telling the guy from NOLS helping me that they would take it, he told them that I had to decide what I was doing first. There was one dime sized patch on the vestibule other than that it was fine. The price was $200 and the guy after I decided to take it told me to let them know the price was now $150. He also told me it was in the best shape of any of the tents he has seen at their gear sales. So I am now the proud owner of a Hilleberg Keron 4 that I only had to pay $150 for.

Yeah I thought $200 was going to be a steal, then he said $150 and it was a no brainer. I had heard on the deals that they have had in the past and knew I wanted to be at the tents first. I was leaving and they were starting to set up more I actually got out of line when I saw them set up a nammatj 3gt but it had probably 10 patches dime and garter size across the top for the same price. Passed on an alpaca packraft for $400.

Here are pics of it set up in the yard. I was wrong, there are two patches on it, one on each door. Aside from that I can't find anything wrong with the tent, well that and the tent stakes are a mismatch of various manufacturers. Pretty happy with what my money got me.uploadfromtaptalk1441557358309.jpguploadfromtaptalk1441557438588.jpg

Glad you like the tent Floorguy! I worked that sale and the first two hours are a blur in my mind. It is like a black friday sale in September. You did score one of the best Hillies I have seen go out. Hope it treats you well on all your future hunts.

I can only speak for the Alaska branch but I am sure most locations have some sort of sale. Shoot off an email to [email protected] That will be sent to the Lander location. Ask to be put on an email list for the gear sale and they should hook you up.

Nothing better than buying a new tent with a hole in it. Seriously. Retailers can't give them away and nobody believes in fixing shit. Even funnier is if you actually use your stuff, it will eventually get a hole. Might as well get it over with outta the gate and reap the savings for other stuff.

Thanks for working the sale, definitely black Friday-ish. After I got the tent I pretty much ignored everything else. Kinda wished I had gone back and checked out the other stuff after I bought the tent.
