Looking at stopping in Junction Texas for overnight stay. Any suggestions on good hotel, and is this a safe town to stay in? Thanks in advance for all

Can't help you on a hotel, but if you can, go to the South Llano River State Park. Beautiful place.

We stayed at an RV park there a few years ago for a night. Nice town. There is a really good barbecue joint there.

I drive through Junction every time I’m heading to family property on West Texas. It’s a nice little town.

As far as motels go I stayed in the econo lodge on the east side of town overlooking the river about twenty years ago. I think it was a Best Western back then. There is a pretty new Holiday Inn Express on the west side just off I10.

If your looking for BBQ Lum’s in downtown Junction is the way to go. There is another joint right off i10 by the gas stations that looks nice on the outside but food is subpar.

Lum's is good. The other joint is Cooper's but it's different than the famous Cooper's. It's still great sometimes, but sometimes not great. Watch out for the state troopers coming into town, for some reason they're always stacked there. They may all still be down in Del Rio though.

Lum’ is the best barbecue joint in Junction. The other barbecue joint in town is Coopers and it’s terrible. Lum’s is where you need to go.

Plenty safe, stop at Lum’s. Great Hill Country town.

I used to try to plan all my trips west to hit Coopers at lunch or dinner time (it’s about an hour and half from my house) but I’ll reiterate what others have said, it’s not as good as it used to be. It’s about as safe of an area as you can have on an Interstate.

I have spent quite a bit of time on the Llano River. It has been 10 years or so since I have been there. I need to try to make it back.

It is a wild river and has had some historic floods, the most recent back in 2018.

I was about to say don't waste your time with Cooper's BBQ, but looks like others beat me to it. I used to through there alot for work but I was mostly just stopping for gas.
