Has anyone used the shotiq course from Joel Turner to improve their shooting? Something I’m looking at doing.

If you have a tension release and can shoot blind bale you can help train your brain. Blind bale is when you're 3 yards from the target, draw and anchor, settle on the target center, close your eyes and pull through your shot with the tension release. Do this till you stop flinching and focus on remembering the feel and motion. Once you master that, you should be able to move to a 20 yard target, pick a 1" size dot on target and put all your focus on that dot. Your pin set should look a lot like the way you're taught to shoot a handgun; which is target in focus with your sights slightly blurry. Then execute your shot the same way you've been blind baling

I did it maybe 10/15 years ago. If you struggle at all with target panic I would recommend it. To me the philosophy of it makes sense and you can become tougher mentally when the moment arises to take that shot. Also, if you are just looking to better yourself go for it.

Joel Turner's son Brody is probably the biggest selling point for his system especially for shooting targets in competition but Shot IQ actually over complicates the shooting process for me. (Hunting only, no competition except the occasional Vegas target scoring for a slap of reality)

I did it and was hoping for more specific actionable things to work on, but it is more of a broad concept type of thing. All very good information, but I do better with small very specific things to work on.

If I could spend that money over again, I would probably start with an online/virtual lesson or two from George Ryals or some other good coach. Maybe then look at Joel Turner after that.

Joel Turner saved archery for me. I'm a trad shooter, so target panic is harder to break. No hinge or back tension releases to band aid the mental game. ShotIQ was excellent, and I still am revisiting the course and learning more.

It's worth it...I will say it's not rocket science and it is still self directed course....the trick is to talk your way through the shot, out loud for starters amd laser focus on talking yourself through it....I had to revisit X3 but it finally clicked...it's not a hoax though, definitely a legit option

Haven't used it so can't comment on it directly but echo fatback's note above about George Ryals (aka Griv). His video series on youtube are pretty detailed and certainly worth working through and will likely make most people a better shot or at least teach you something you hadn't thought of before.

If you are struggling with the mental part of the shot process, 100% worth it. If you need a coach, maybe someone else. Joel is working with a very specific part in shooting process and the program works. If you struggle with grip, form or anything prior to the shot sequence, a coach would be useful before Shot IQ.

I took as I have struggled off an on with TP,,, it is fairly generalized,, blind bailing has helped me as much as anything, an paying very close attention to the process while doing so,,, I don,t really care for all that talking to myself in my shot , to each his own,,
