The Colorado governor and state legislature which has been blue for about 8 years now has made known that they are anti cop and pro early release of criminals by passing a multitude of get soft on criminal laws and legislation. Colorado probably isn't the place to go if you want to remain in law enforcement.

Az is always hiring officers. I would imagine just about EVERY major dept. is hiring officers right about now. With the lack of LE support from the weak minded public, lots have retired early. Good luck and be safe out there.
AZ already has too many people. Go elsewhere.

If you're considering moving to a location that has a federal courthouse, check into court security positions. Have to have prior law enforcement experience, which it sounds like you have. You'll work for the US Marshal's Service as a sworn Special Deputy, but paid by a contractor. Pay varies by state, but it's pretty decent - $35-45/hour. Almost all the officers are career retired law enforcement, but starting to get more guys that aren't retired.

I work very closely with public safety. Our area (Fargo ND/Moorhead, MN) fits the bill. Both Counties (and cities within) are hiring. Good pay. And per above, many LE work at Federal Courthouse (Fargo) when done locally. Easy gig.

Dude is throwing another log on the fire right now, looking up at the mountains, considering taking the snowmobile out for a spin.
