I have a Kifaru Tut
Partner had a Hudson, paid about 1/2+ Less $ than my Tut cost. He occasionally teased me about price difference. He couldn’t see a difference.
Couple years back, we camped in Superstition Wilderness in late December, on coues hunt.
Storm, high winds then mixed rain- snow rolled in. My Tut walls were being blown, shaken something fierce!
His Hudson had 2 places where seams gave out.
in the early am, he was in my Tut, warming up by the stove. Hudson was still staked down on now 3 corners, flapping in the wind.
Both tents pitched & staked well, same area set ups. But only I had a wood stove.
His wife fixed the Hudson, he sold it cheap.
I still have and use my Tut in backcountry, now going on 4 years
vehicle camp too if I don’t set up Kodiak 10x10.
Pard went bomb proof with Hilleberg. Spent more $$$ than my Tut AND stove.
he doesn’t tease me anymore. Probably knows I’d bring up that 5 day trip in the superstition backcountry. His gear wet, him miserable until coming into the Tut at 2am to warm up & dry off.
He wasn’t the same in the head after that 3rd stormy night. He stayed in camp day 4, recovering. Day 5 he went out 1/2 day then back to Camp Tut, his spirit broken.
Would have packed up & left but we only had my vehicle at trail head. So we spent night 4 & 5 sharing my Tut. I prefer using Tut solo.
