I'm normally tent guy and wanted to give the tarp a shot. The goal was solo shelter and light weight.

The granite mountain was the lightest 1 person I could find that didn't break the bank.

I went through 3 rounds of trying to set it up before I finally got it where I'm happy with it and ready to camp. First two rounds had me disappointment in my purchase and was looking at his Skyline shelter instead. The main difference was extending my trekking pole to its max length and that really helped give me some space at the rear right of the tarp and plenty of room for me to stretch out on my bivy.

I'm taking it with me to Colorado on a scouting trip in 2 weeks and will add to this when I get back.

One suggestion for anyone ordering a tarp and a bivy is get two different colors. The bags are so close in size that I could see grabbing the wrong one if not paying attention.

With bivy, tarp, stakes and lines I'm at 19 oz.

I agree. It is a little tricky to get it right. I'm eyeing the skyline as well.

It seems like a great option. If my hunting partner was down to share a tarp it would make the group sleep system unbelievably light. We just aren't sure if we will be hunting together the entire time.
