Jimmy Tarp Granite Mountain-Battening Down the Hatches

Just ordered one of these bad boys from Jimmy today, very anxious to get it and check it out. This may be a dumb question, but I am new to backpack hunting. Are ticks an issue, and if so how can someone prevent them from coming in?

Get a bug bivy.

I bought the Summit Bivy from Jimmy as well, just curious if there is a possibility of keeping ticks out of the tarp entirely.

Never had an issue with ticks in the mountains, here in KS if tick season I'll use a nest in my setup. Not sure if a nest will work but a bug bivy will keep the ticks out if you do your part and keep it zipped closed. Check yourself and clothes before entering like you would in any shelter. I'm not sure what his bivy is but I really like the Borah Gear bug bivy.

Thank you, sir. I appreciate the info.

Thanks. But, I am looking for more informative, and constructive suggestions.

Lol. Here is a good tip. Treat your clothes with the wash in permethrin. It is good stuff. Between that and a careful check before you go to bed, you should be good.

Permethrin is awesome stuff, use it a lot while Turkey hunting in the form of a spray.
