Can someone show Mundt the proper way to wear a hat...... dont care if you think im old school but theres only 1 way wear to wear a hat and thats frontwards..... backwards and esp crooked is not an option. Thats why a cowboy hat is always best....only one way to wear a cowboy hat.

Can someone show longtail the proper way to quote a thread and punctuate...dont care if you think im new school.

First it was our gun rights and pretty soon it'll be our right choose how we want to wear a hat, what's next?!?!?! I'm only kidding...kind of.

There were many on that team...don't kid yourself.

My buddy told me, they had that bull spotted in U9 and lost it. The team found it later the next day when Jimmy went out to shoot it 17 miles away in U10.

Thats crazy how far that bull travelled......

Never doubted for a second there were many on the team, Jimmy John doesn’t shoot an animal without 15 guys watching it round the clock for him.

That is absolutely the case.
At some point it’s less about the money and more about the optics. Joe public as a whole seems to support hunting when it’s done for the “right reasons”, which is a little bit gray, but generally entails doing it for the meat and not killing for sport. We lose a lot of support when the kill is viewed as a sport kill.

JJ can do what he wants, seems like a down to earth guy, but his style of hunting goes against everything rokslide was built on. If I had a couple billion I’d have some badass hunts, but what he’s doing isn’t hunting, it’s killing. Just my take from an apparently jealous DIY hunter that would rather kill a 300” bull myself than a 400” bull that was handed to me.

The general public has no idea if he's hunting or shooting. The only publicity he gets is when somebody reposts off his IG onto a hunting forum. He posts a picture or two, thanks those who helped, and that's the end of it from him.

Exactly. JJ is not the problem…the outfitter side of the trickle down is the problem. Every single complainer who has hunted deer, elk, and hopes to hunt sheep in any of the states he has donated millions upon millions going towards the research and management of those species has benefitted from the massive funds garnered from those tag purchases. But they only complain.

One raffle and one auction tag go a LONG way.

It's easy to sit on Rokslide and say you'd rather DIY a raghorn than pay a team of scouts to find you a monster like that when it's not even a remote possibility. Lots of people would be doing the same style of hunting if a six figure hunting season was just a drop in their bucket.

If he was wearing a cowboy hat you'd be up in arms about the stolen valor, and plenty of Yellowstone fans put a Stetson on backwards when they pick it up for their western glamping vacation. Can't imagine being so old and crusty that I was bothered by how someone else wears a hat.

I don’t see that what JJ is doing “is against everything Rokslide was built on”.
Everything he is doing is completely legal. The money is going to a great cause.
Anyone who has reached his level of success has spent countless hours and financial risks to get where he is able to do this. I would rather have JJ enjoying himself and spending his money on hunting than the group of woke billionaires who spend similar amounts of money trying to stop all sport hunting. Before making negative comments ,probably out of jealousy, I recommend we pick appropriate battles, not belittle someone doing something totally legal and where the money spent goes to support hunting.

Where did I imply he was doing something illegal and because it’s legal doesn’t mean we all have to agree with it.

Like I said, having someone follow a bull around for months, then come pick me up from the airport, drag me out there, have me shoot it, then sit there in the shade in a chair while they cut it up and pack it out, isn’t my cup of tea. Legal or not. I don’t care if I’m shooting a damn unicorn from Mars.

Rokslide has always been about the DIY guy getting it done the hard way.

I’ll bow out because I’m obviously just jealous! 😜

I know one of the guides helping out - there was definitely alot of them. BUT dude has the money, he dropped the coin on the tag - I'm all for it honestly. Is it a bit weird? Sure, but so is most of the elk hunting in AZ.... there aint a bull in that state that half the outfitters don't already know about.

Also - the money is going to a good place so theres that

Its pathetic how many people are so jealous with hatred of any animal he takes. He built an Empire, became a billionaire. And now chooses to spend his money how he wants. Nothing is stopping any of you whiners from creating an empire, and then once your rich, you can choose to not buy the best tags money can buy, cause of your "morals" and all. Ive never seen a post of his where he is bragging about himself, its always thanking the people who made it possible for him to have that opportunity. Who cares how its done, its legal, and its his way of enjoying the outdoors. A bunch of you need to get over the fact other people are much more successful in life than you, and just cause they have deep pockets, doesnt mean they are bad people.

Ok one more time because this post just made me LOL in the gym. The irony of a guide posting this is not lost on me.

We are all in different financial positions and that’s what makes America great. Personally I could spend quite a bit of money on a guided hunt and not bat an eye. A hunt that guarantees 350” bulls. But I don’t. So I guess you’re argument that everyone is just jealous they can’t buy antler points goes out the window….

I was very involved in the mountain lion ballot measure in Colorado. Guess what 90% of the people that were pushing for a yes vote talked about? TROPHY HUNTING! And almost every single person, when asked to define trophy hunting, described trophy hunting as hunting for the sport and not for the use of the animal. And Google JJ and his kills, plenty of negativity around what he’s doing from a sport killing standpoint.

But yes, you’re a guide, your views are tainted.

havent been a guide for a decade. Do i need to change my handle so you dont judge what you think I am? Just as much of DIY hunter as anyone on this forum and have plenty of big bulls and bucks of my own on solo wilderness hunts. I just dont whine as much as some about how other people choose to live their life

You

Having followed mntn guides adventures a bit on social media for several years, id suggest they are the perfect example of wild adventures that rokslide was built on. Your barking up the wrong tree on this one suggesting his views are tainted based on previous employment.
