I was looking into getting a Jetstream vest a month or so ago, and I emailed Sitka asking them about the Jetstream vest vs the Kelvin Lite vest, and was told that as an insulation piece under a jacket, the Kelvin Lite is a much better option, as the warmth of the Jetstream mainly comes from its windstopping ability.

Anyway, I'm wondering what you guys' opinion is on the Jetstream vest if I already have the Jetstream jacket. In the early fall when its 45-50 degrees, I love wearing like a traverse zip-t and a vest, but the vest I currently have is not windproof, so it can get a little chilly if there's any wind.

Am I going to find that the same conditions I would wear a Jetstream vest in are the same conditions I could just as well wear my jacket? I just don't want to buy a Jetstream vest if its going to be a waste since I have the jacket.

Any of you guys have both, and find a need for both?

I have both and wear both in combination at times but not all too often. I'll have one or the other by itself depending on conditions.I wore the vest and a fleece quarter zip on kodiak in october probably 75% of the time out, if we got rain i wore my rain shell or if it was colder i wore my puffy over it.

I agree, having both I haven't used them in conjunction much. My jetstream vest mostly goes over a chama or core hoody ....that's pretty much all I use it for. I run really hot and that gets me through a lot of conditions of it dry.
When I am wearing the jacket if I need more insulation I have my Kevin vest As a go to...

I love using the vest with a core long sleeve or traverse if its a bit colder. I really like being able to keep the wind off my core and still get to my arms to keep me from over heating. Like others have said if it rains ill put my shell over the combo, if it gets too cold the puffy goes over.

I own too much Sitka....

With my jetstream jacket I would take the Kelvin lite vest for insulation

If I pack my puffy jacket I always carry my jetstream vest to wear underneath the puffy to cut the wind if needed.

If you can afford it, a jetstream jacket and vest, along with a Kelvin vest and Kelvin jacket, you would be set for just about any weather I could think of. Those 4 pieces in combination with one another are very versitile.

My most worn combo this year was a merino tee, sitkas traverse zip tee, jetstream vest, and my first lite uncompahgre. Those 4 layers covered me in single digit temps in late season rifle and also in 60 degree early season days where the sun was blasting.

I had both and wore the hell out of the vest. However, when I was looking to add real warmth I wore a Kelvin vest. That vest adds a great amount of warmth to the Jetstream jacket and is very comfortable. If I was looking to add warmth, I would go with the Kelvin over the Jetstream vest but both are good pieces.
