I'm looking for a warm, very quiet, mid-season jacket recommendation for bowhunting. I'm a trad archer so my shots are always 20 yards or less so a quiet jacket is essential. I have an old Kuiu Kenai that was pretty good but the newer ones seem too fragile and don't fit me as well. What would you folks recommend? Many thanks!

I use combinations of an early version sitka 90%, an old Kryptec Kratos primaloft puffy, and an early version sitka Mountain Jacket from August thru mid October.

I like the scentlok fleece stuff. Don’t care about the carbon but I like the clothing. Fits good and is really quiet. Seems to hold up pretty well. If you catch a sale you can get a set for pretty cheap.

Rivers west. I’ve used their heavy weight top and bottom for years. Very warm for the weight due to being 100% waterproof. Very quiet with the old fleece H2O design. Colors are terrible as their camo looks like a kindergarten class experiment. But I am hunting and not in a fashion show.

Sitka Traverse Jacket

This is as quiet as it gets from my experience, I’ve had Stratus, fanatic, and now a kuiu proximity LT and the Traverse hoodie is dead quiet. An old fanatic lite was a killer jacket too if you can find one used. The traverse doesn’t have windstopper is the only downside, they wouldn’t have to make the stratus if it did.

I guess that I'm old and think "old school"…..wool. Wool is about as silent as you can get! Wool is great unless it gets wet, still insulates but gets heavy when wet!

I’ve used and abused Sitka 90s for years. Quiet plus relatively tight for shooting a bow. Lots of nice pockets. I’ve also used kuiu guide but it’s a little light when cold.

I always layer which offers many options for different weather and activity levels. I have Sitka fanatic and kuiu guide vests. The fanatic is warmer. Fanatic jackets may be a bit bulky but ok as a vest. A rain jacket with pitzips, regular jacket, vest, and base layer offer lots of options.

What are you looking for in the jacket. You say mid season which means something different in every state and even changes within states. The Kenai is a synthetic puffy so replacing that you would be looking at an active insulation piece in the 100 gram insulation range. The original Kenai was 100 in the body and 60 in the arms.

Sitka has ambients in a full range of weights. Many other hybrids out there, KUIU, OV,

Mid season to me is dry but cooler with wind being a bigger factor due to colder air temps. I’m going Peloton 240 with a base under and possibly an active insulation piece. The newer 240s need a little break in time.
