Gonna have to put my golden retriever down after 11 good years. Had to do it several times over the years with other dogs but never easy. Now we got to explain to 3 and 6 year old.
That is a tough thing to do, have had to do it with pups and have had to do it with the daughters horse that that won her her first saddles and buckles.
I'm sorry. I just lost my Doberman last month, he was 15 years young. Best dog I ever knew. My grand daughter was there and saw him pass, it was no fun explaining or seeing her reaction, but kids are surprisingly resilient.
It sucks; I've had to explain it to my kids myself, but kids are going to learn about death eventually anyways. Use it as a good learning/teaching moment to show your kids how to handle loss.
Guys ... THANKS ... I appreciate y'all . We got though it ... And yes kids are resilient... My son out of the blue decided he's. Gonna be a vet so he can help animals
Sorry to hear this. My lab is 7 and I wonder how I'll handle it when the day comes. Every morning my one year old son climbs into the dog bed and hugs/ lays on the dog. Hang in there...
Far worse is keeping a suffering good dog around for selfish reasons. You're doing the right thing. So sorry man. It is indeed never easy. Remember the good times.
Sorry to hear. Lost my dog 30 days ago. Still can hardly talk about her without choking up. It is a hard decision to make. Just remember how good he/she had it, and it was you that made them so happy.
Golden's are the best. Our oldest golden is 11 and on anti-seizure meds with an expected brain tumor. We know he doesn't have much longer and trying to make his last days as best we can. My youngest is 8, and getting more gray in the face every day. Its hard to imagine what it would be like without them.
Sorry to hear about all the others that lost their best friend
My dog had Insulinoma and started having seizures when his medicine stopped working today,it was time but my heart feels like it was ripped out.
Sorry to hear guy's, truly sucks putting our wingman down,... been a few years since I put my ole Chessie down, he was 13 yrs. old....time and a new dog is about the only thing that helps, I still get choked up sometimes. They just don't live long enough. Hang in there guys...
