We can only hold out hope that they catch a break and are able to get a handle on some of the fires. If that happens then I'd imagine there's a chance for cold camping. If not, our early season will be lost.

Welcome to the future. Heres my challenge to all of us. For every comment in a hunting forum send an email or call your elected officials and let them have a piece of your mind. We can’t complain if we aren’t willing to become VERY vocal. This goes for all our rights, not just hunting related.

I know it's a pipe dream, but if the CA Forest Service and GVT learn ANYTHING from these devastating fires it should be that the current Forest Service model DOESNT WORK & that significant changes need to be made to prevent these catastrophes from reoccurring. Unfortunately I believe that will only happen with a change in leadership at the Gov level coupled with loss of $$$$ if Tahoe is impacted. I truly hope the later doesn't happen but the only thing that matters to the Left is $$$$ and a lot of the Casinos & multi million dollar homes up there are owned by Dems. Maybe if they loose their summer home it'll inspire them to make some changes.....

So would that be “transvaccinated”? I’m gonna use that next time I’m asked!😂
It’s Cali, you can be whatever you want to be. She, he, it, thing, etc.

Most of the population has been brainwashed into thinking all republicans are racist, the democrats could broadcast human sacrifice on live tv and still get elected. This place is terminal.
Tahoe is beautiful, hopefully it doesn’t have to serve as a costly wake up call.

Let's hope not. They didn't last year. I think partly due to the majority of the population in California recreates on FS land. The BLM land seems to be overshadowed by FS land often here.

Don't hold your breath on that. BLM followed the FS and closed down an area I frequently hunt for all but the last 2 days of season last year.

I just came back from Sequoia National Forest on Sunday. There were fires in the area, but a good 30-40 miles from where I was camped. As I was leaving I was told at a local brewery that they were about to close the forests. I get why they would not want a bunch of people running around the forest and have to commit resources to rescue them, but it's a bit overboard to close 20 million acres because there's a risk something bad would happen. On a side note, I saw only 2 does, a mountain lion and a bear. I guess the deer are fed up with California too???IMG_3549.jpegIMG_3547.jpegIMG_3540.jpegIMG_3529.jpeg

I think x8 and x12 are still open. They fall under Humboldt tyobe national forest. I'm going to call later today to confirm.
All national forests in CA are closed as of today at 11:59PM. Humbolt Toiyabe is probably included in “all”.

I'm certainly not holding my breath. You are right and I do remember some BLM lands being closed last season, just not at the rate the FS lands are or were. The FS lands just have a blanket closure of all that are controlled by California, no matter the proximity to a fire.

Just like last year. Generally you won't see Humboldt - Toiyabe NF (Cal/Nev) or Rogue River - Siskiyou NF (Cal/Or) closed like the rest. They are shared forests. Nevada controls Humboldt - Toiyabe, as Oregon controls Rogue River - Siskiyou. The out of state controlling entities aren't bound to California closures. Look it up, you won't see those two forest on the closure list. If they do close (which they can and have) it is due to legitimate fire danger, not this California B.S. and more often than notif they do close they open back up relatively quick.

To anyone effected by this. We need to let the Forest Service and CDFW know how this is impacting us. At the very least it will get us on their radar. If you have time use the form below to contact Region 5 office. Probably in our best interest to keep it civil if possible. I know I put a ton of time in and I want to make sure they know it’s impacting us too.
