I'm preparing by Caribou hunting in Alaska for 2 weeks leading up to opening day... It's a tough life, but someone's gotta do it...

Ill fly back into denver on the 14th and head north into Wyoming to place a blind and set up camp for opening day!

My OR antelope hunt starts Aug 1st. I'm heading over the 30th to get camp set up and relax.

I've been shooting alot, blind is placed and I've been exercising alot for other hunts coming up. My son coming with me on his first antelope hunt.

Shooting and finishing up some new hunting arrows. The current practice arrows would work just fine but there is something about getting a dozen new arrows doen, sorted and set for the fall seasons. Only thing left to purchase is a bit of food. Every other thing has been bought. Also fighting the GIF!

Found three possible bucks that I would gladly take so far, might make another trip or two into the area I plan to hunt the week before it opens. Don't think I am going to hunt opening day and I leave for another hunt from the 16-21st... I like to let all the people get burnt out and then go the following week, less people from my experience, but they aren't any easier to hunt! Best of luck to all of you!

Anyone doing strictly spot and stalk?

Leaving tonight after work. Thursday is opening morning. Didn't get the waterholes I wanted so hopefully the other hunters tag out quickly or I get a nice buck to come into my blind.

Nick: I'm doing groundblind 100%, I actually enjoy sitting and watching the animals come into me.

The unit I'm hunting is pretty thick and doesn't have a ton of animals in it so it's really not conducive to spot and stalk so I will be sitting water. The good part about the low numbers in the unit is that I have the only tag so I've got it all to myself! ;)

Heading back up this weekend to check cameras and put up some blinds...

i think i am going to try spot and stalk this year. Hope it works out.

Been there done that... It's not easy that's for sure! It's not so hard stalking them as it is dealing with their behavior. There's no rhyme or reason for anything they do! I describe them as suffering from severe A.D.D. combined with an extreme case of paranoia! Least where we hunted in Idaho. They have no set bedding schedule, will randomly get up and shift directions, or get spooked by the same bush they've walked by numerous times! haha if you can spot and stalk antelope, you can spot and stalk anything! :)

Mike, Hunt is just messing around. He's killed more pronghorn spot and stalk than anyone I know... He's got it figured out for sure.
