KS resident looking for a Mule deer hunt for 2026 season. Archery or Rifle.
Not looking for fancy lodging or meals
Just a good hunt. Any recommendations appreciated!

This is very broad…
Are you looking for a wilderness experience, like true horseback and 20 miles in a wilderness area or are you looking to ride in a truck in Mexico?
Trophy expectations?

I'll chime in here and add... I'm saving points in WY and in the meantime would love to find a really good private land access hunt anywhere West with a budget up to $3k. Am I unicorn hunting vs. Muley or is this possible?

If you find a private access hunt for $3k it's gonna suck. They're out there but I wouldn't touch them.

Why not just go DIY and build experience? I’d much rather have a DIY hunt than a 3k private land hunt. Can almost guarantee I would have a chance at bigger deer and 100% guarantee more fun/adventure.

3k goes a long way on a diy adventure.

As to the OP: “one of the reasons big mule deer are so great is that you can’t buy one.” -Robby Denning, I’m pretty sure..

I'm all about a DIY hunt. Just haven't had the best experiences with public land. If anyone is willing to have a live chat and share details of things they would do again and also avoid that would be great. Messaging is fine as well, I probably just have the typical 20 questions.
I've got 10 plus private land elk hunts in NM under my belt (awesome) and just a couple of public land CO elk hunts (awful). Public land WY antelope was great and really want a great muley experience as my next hunt. Appreciate everyone's positive opinions and advice...
