Hello everyone I am going on a fall bear hunt. I have picked out the osprey Aether 70L. What do you think about this pack. I am willing to tak two or three trips to hike the meat but I want to make sure that this will last and be comfortable. Thanks Gabe

Not the best resistance to snags and such, but if you pay attention it'll do fine for the sub #60 loads.

I ran a Volt 60 for many years before i could afford a dedicated hunting pack.
Its strength was its light weight and its incredible comfortability.
its weakness was somewhat thin cloth which you had to baby a little.
Used it on many backpacking trips as well.
She served me well.
bought it used one year old for $75

It’ll do. I had one I used on backcountry fishing trips. It’s a nice pack.

For hunting it’s performance will suffer with heavy loads since it wasn’t meant for this. Hard to keep the weight up higher and won’t be as comfortable. Load up a sandbag and go for a training hike and see if it works for you

Glad you asked this. I've been looking at one I already have to use on my first few backpack hunts before buying a dedicated pack. The Osprey is much nicer than the one I backpacked Europe in 20yrs ago. But it's good to hear they will do.

I have no experience with that company but a good friend who a lot of experience with packs said they liked Osprey.

Out of curiosity for packing meat out is there a separate compartment you intend to use for that or just lay something over your gear to separate it and the meat?

I'm also glad to hear some of this feedback. Doing my first backpack hunt this fall, and I have a slew of Osprey packs. I'm also planning to use the Aether for a hunting pack this fall.
