Is there flagging ribbon that truly reflects as intended?

Never expected this would have happened.... I hanged flagging ribbon in the trees to help in locating our spike camp at night when shinning our headlamps in the direction our gps was pointing us to.

Later that night, when getting in the vicinity of our spike camp, we began to shine our headlamps around, expecting to see some nice reflections in the trees. It never reflected at all.

Anyone experience crappy flagging ribbon? And if so what brand is a good quality - highly reflective flagging ribbon that actually works at night?

Maybe the stuff I had was old? It just sat rolled up in my pack all this time. Never was left out in the sun.

I've never known generic flagging to be reflective at all. It'll stand out from trees and things but not actually reflective. I know you can buy reflective flagging but I've never actually seen any in the field or used any.

Yea - with the orange and silver (or grayish) striping - I expected the gray/silver to be reflective. This is just those cheap rolls that they sell at Sportsmans or Cabelas. My expectations were too high. Lol

Egressing a hunt area I found some very old clip-on reflective hang tags marking a trail. They were only about 1/2” x 2” and very deteriorated but still lit up in our headlamps. I don’t know what the product was but very effective. The plastic was so old they crumbled when we took them down but still highly reflective.

I've come across reflective tacks driven into trees in the past. Doubt you want to pack a hammer and tacks but they definitely work.

these work and are easy to put on & off. If I'm leaving the stand on an evening hunt I'll clip one on my pull up rope for the next morning. I don't want any permanent reflective on my stands. You may them find cheaper if you search.
