This crossed my mind the other day while on my moose hunt, while not running into many moose. Got me curious, what an awesome species... don’t know how most states are doing but I think most places in Idaho numbers continue to decline. Just irritating that we have all this fuss over grizzlies, wolves, and whatever other animal but we’ve got incredible species like Shiras moose and like 6 caribou that continue to get hammered without much attention. Anyways just a thought
Quick google search will likely answer my question but just thought I’d pose my question here.
Thanks hope everyone is having a great season!

Never heard of one? I know Shiras are declining basically everywhere except Co. from what I’ve heard.

I don’t know about human conversation but the moose are definitely conversing non stop right now. I would avoid camping in all moose creek bottoms right now in my area. I had one walk through camp and tore the guy line attachment from my duomid to a tree. So it walked within 8 feet of where I was lying. I was making noise to scare it but it didn’t seem impressed. The next two nights I could hear them coming doing that grunt every other step. Terrible for sleeping when you know they are coming. I ended up rigging a corral of deadfall around my tent and taking down all guy lines. Elk never cause me that trouble. Sorry about your ID hunt. I assume it was a once in a lifetime hunt.
