Is the RS1.2 right for me?

I'm ready to pull the trigger on a new optic for my 6UM but am still undecided. Currently running a NF SHV SFP that has been great but am ready to try out FFP/mils. My biggest concern is usability of the reticle at low magnification. I hunt everything from dark, tight woods where 50 yards would be a long shot to wide open fields. This past year shots ranged from ~40yards to 400. It sounds like the SHR-mil would be fine for my application, but I have not seen pictures of the illumination on 2.5 magnification.

Is there a better optic for this application?

I like it for an all around optic that works in dark woods eastern whitetail hunting as well as at extended range.

If I weren't planning to shoot over 400 yards, I might lean more towards a 2.5-10 nxs strictly for hunting. I do like higher magnification for paper punching and FFP for shooting longer range though.

I'm happy with mine, not as nice as a vx5hd to get behind and look through but they check a lot of boxes including reliability for there price point. Id echo everything wind gypsy said, I was between the nxs compact and the rs1.2 and chose the maven but it was a tough choice and ultimately came down to more features for less money
