Yes, the magnum primers showed pressure signs early for some reason. Switched to a 210M instead and got more velocity before reaching pressure.

Depends on what you want.

My two 6.5 CMs hit 1800 fps at 800 yards and my 6.5 PRC hits 1800 fps at 1100 yards. Having an additional 300 yards of effective distance is nothing to shake a stick at.

Good point. I just can’t imagine taking a shot on big game past 800.

One of those "better to have and not need it than need it and not have it" followed up with practice.

800 yards is a fair poke, moreso when it takes you even further away from the road in gnarly terrain. Been there and done that.

There's velocity for "reliable expansion" and then there's velocity to "get to the vitals and still offer reliable expansion".

I'll push the 1800 fps threshold on my 6.5 CM and 6.5 PRC for deer (assuming everything aligns). But there's no way (hopefully not famous last words) that I would do it on an elk. No scientific basis, but cut the max distance in half (plus or minus a bit) and I'd take the shot without question.

The PRC will do everything the CM can do, and then some, just with more gusto.

Right! I have a 6.5cm that loves CCI Magnum primers, on the flip side I have two 6.5prc's that run better with fed 210 and have issues with Magnum primers.

Is this the 6.5 that everyone really wanted when they fell in love with the 6.5 Creed?

I have a 6.5 barrel blank that I'm trying to decide what to do with.

PRC, or another Creed.

I already have all the loading stuff for the Creed - great dies, great process, etc.

And I've been down the velocity chasing road in the past.

Thoughts? PRC here to stay? Going to be more widely loved as components get easier (aka brass)?

The love affair with 6.5 Creedmoor isn't over yet! I was in Sportsman's Warehouse today picking up my new low $$$ CVA Cascade in 6.5 PRC and overheard the conversation between another customer and the salesman down the counter a ways. Customer was interested in a 6.5 Creedmoor, but really wanted something in .308. The salesman told him 80% of the rifles lined up on the wall were 6.5 Creedmoor because that's what people want, but he could order a .308 online and pick it up in the store. Since they had Creedmoor ammo on the shelf, he went for the 6.5 CM.

I agree with others, PRC is here to stay. But will 6.5 PRC continue to build sales, or will the newly announced 7mm PRC become the new king of PRC popularity?

I picked up my CVA at a discount to the same rifle in 6.5 CM, probably because no PRC ammo is available on the shelves. If I didn't roll my own, no telling how long I'd have to wait to try it out. Other than the very overpriced brass on GunBroker (there is literally a ton of it for sale around $2-2.50+/round, or once fired for $1), 6.5 PRC brass seems to be as rare as complete rounds, but I got lucky and found a box of 100 Lapua brass from Scheels which should be here in a few days.
