Is My Rifle Too Much?

The range will tell you the truth. At crunch time you won’t feel anything, other than if you flinch shooting it, go with another option.

I should have stated that I'm a bow hunter and have only shot 6 or 7 deer with a rifle. Most with a 25-06 and all from a tree stand. And definitely not bragging about my jiu jitsu, I've been choked out by 120 pound women .......and didn't even pay for that!
I'm 5'7" 170 and can shoot it well enough for a few shots but it's not fun to shoot. I guess we will find out.
Being completely real, if you're already in the "not fun to shoot" zone I'd take the 308. You need to be automatic when the shot presents itself and minor unconscious flinches can make for a bad day. 308 will kill anything. My Elk rifle is a 6.5 CM.
Edit: Didn't catch that you had a 25-06, that may be the ticket if it shoots well and you're already comfortable and acclimated to it.

The blast will scare the shit out of you the first few rounds but it doesn't recoil how you think a 300WM should. My buddy has one and it was one of the first rifles i've ever shot. Then he put me behind his old 7RM Weatherby and that thing murdered my shoulder in 10 rounds. I bought a 7RM Waypoint shortly after and I have put upwards of 70 rounds through it in one day without thinking twice. They are amazing out-of-box rifles.
