Meh, I stand by what I said. If you're not shooting on the low end 500+ rounds of practice on fundamentals, wind, and positioning in a year then 100 fps difference isn't going to matter jack for a hunting scenario. It'll get you from 800y to 870y expansion velocity LOL.

$50 is a drop in the bucket for the due diligence you should be doing for a hunting round. It doesn't matter if you practice with a 2550 or a 2650 fps round.

I shoot well north of 500 rounds a year so like I said my concern is not trigger time, I just asked if pulling the bullets will affect the accuracy when reloaded

You said it did better ---- are we talking just chrono numbers or are we talking group numbers?

1) I'll take group numbers any day over chrono numbers.
2) It takes many more than one or two 3-5 shot groups to tell you exactly what you want to know. I could burn up that 40 you have just making sure of my groups.
3) None of it means "Jack" if you can't put that first bullet, cold bore, heart rate way up, shotting the way you would in the field, exactly where you want it to go.

groups sizes were about the same as what I was getting with 43 grains, around .55-.6 moa. Granted this is only across 10 rounds but I think it warrants more testing. SD was around 5 and ES was <20 which is on par or better than what I was at with 43 gr

Do the math, 38 weeks from today is smack dab in the middle of hunting season. Much better to “shoot” for a different time of year

agreed, as mentioned - those 168ttsx at sub 2600fps MV will be sub optimal in terms of killing. I used factory 165 CX’s in my 18inch 308win and it truly was lack luster on deer.

I love the 168ttsx inside 300 yards at around 2800fps though!

Both mule deer I shot with this round DRT, but to be fair one was at 30 yards and the round zipped through and actually shed the pedals, and the other was at 200 yards and it expanded and lodged in the opposite shoulder.

I couldnt get the factory CXs to group well in my rifle either. Whats your load to get 2800 fps out of the 168s?

Sorry for confusion, that 2800 is not in the 18inch 308. That is out of my 30-06 22inch.

I much prefer monos in that rifle than in my shorty 18” 308.

It’s 40 rounds….. just go shoot them.

You pull them your going to have to resize the neck. Your best off getting that brass all on the same firing and continuing.

Ive shot few hundred at 43 gr already, but im going to do the same with the 44gr now.

For mule deer mainly, inside 500 yards. Why go up to 180gr?

Some .308's like that heavier bullet. I'm with you on the 168 at those ranges though, especially with bullet expansion. That 180 though won't really like longer shots like you may be taking.

Yea its already shooting great with the 168s, I just want more velocity for better expansion. May consider dropping in weight but dont see a need to yet.
