Had an ol’ Louisiana southern states/kansas whitetail slayer tell me that if you can hang a ring on it, it’s a point. I like that logic lol.
From Northwestern PA, lived in Colorado a couple years as well as Kansas. A 10 point buck is exactly what it sounds like. Out west it’s whatever the locals call it. I tend to add the term basket rack to describe the fact that I shot a young buck. We call a young 4 point, (2 on each side, 2x2) a young forky. Even a 6 point, (3x3) has its own designation here. A good old Pennsylvania 6. Meaning a young buck at the end of the season you decided to drop.
