Is H1000 a mismatch for 6 CM?

Nosler load data shows H1000 as Most Accurate Powder Tested for 6CM for their 105/106 gr. 6mm bullets with a max 49gr getting 2,949 MV. OK so good for them, but it doesn’t seem that H1000 & 6CM googled elsewhere comes up with much good to say about this pairing. Fortunately or unfortunately,

I have more H1000 on hand than I can imagine ever needing. Soon will be loading for 6CM starting with either 108 ELD-M or 105 VLD. Any hope for these & H1000? Thanks.

GRT shows H1000 is a viable powder for a generic case volume and Berger 105 HYB but warns it could be a compressed charge @ 49gn

I used to use H1000 in a slow. 1-9 twist .243 win with 105 gr Amax bullets to get speed out of heavy for caliber bullets. I don’t see why a 6mm creedmoor wouldn’t do the same thing.

ADI (Australian Defence Industries) who make the powder for Hodgdon list load data for it with 100 to 115gn bullets (it is sold as AR2217 in Australia, but it is the exact same powder as H1000).

My son has a 6 Creed, and we run 108gn ELD-Ms. But I have only ever used H4350 in his rifle.

My buddy and myself have been using H1000 in 243 wins with 105s, for a long time with great results.

I’m around 3100 with my 6cm with 105 hybrids, H1000, 450 cci primers. Works better in a longer barrel in my opinion.

The Nosler data says it’s a 99% case capacity. I’m no expert but being that close to full case capacity isn’t what I would think is ideal.

My experience is that you DO want to be at or near 100% case capacity for best consistency, velocity and groups. Not objective fact, just my experience.

Thanks. Good first hand info. I don’t have the rifle yet so lots to consider & discover. I’m using new Lapua SRP brass. Asking for comparison…., if you tried CCI #400’s then generally what was you MV’s? Not enough/too slow?

Very valid point. Thanks & I probably should’ve said that differently. The go/no go of course is seeing or not seeing legitimate pressure signs & watching MV’s carefully, and I have this experience with a 6.5-284 load (different powder & Nosler ABLR) I’m shooting now which is just under max at 99% case capacity without pressure issues & with very good groups.

I’m using Alpha SRP brass. I went with the
450’s due to reliable ignition below zero degrees. Did not try 400s.
