Hello all,

I am looking for recommendations here. My key points for the piece would be warm, quiet, and durable. It doesn't need to be windproof or waterproof. The intent would be to wear it under a soft shell when needed and then an outer layer once it starts heating up. Hunting Oregon, primarily early season and won't be glassing. I'm openon brand, but for my purpose have been figuring a fleece might be what I'm looking for?

Thanks

Wool vest.

Filson is bombproof.
First Lite is nice for hunting.

I have a simple fleece vest I got at Cabelas years ago, and I absolutely love it. I literally wear it almost every time I hunt. SImple, cheap, and does what I want it to. It’s quiet, warm, and not constricting.

I wear a Drake MST layering vest a lot. It's fleece but also has a wind blocker. I can wear it as an outer layer or under my jacket. I think having a wind blocker closer to your body really seems to help. You can usually pick them up this time of year for $50.

Thanks for the replies. It looks like I could pick up a small Drake vest for $50 right now. I may pull the trigger on that. Any other suggestions are welcome still.
