The Big Agnes Air Core is warm enough but at 20" in width I was straddling it instead of sleeping comfortably on it. Recommendations for a wider pad that I can sleep on using only a top quilt??? (Nothing between me and the pad except my clothes)

They make a 25" wide IAC...

Very good pad but too heavy to pack in IMO. There are lighter options but you'll have to throw some more $ at them.

Exped UL 7 LW, BA Qcore-SL LW and Thermareat Xlite Lrg.

I have the Exped and it's a good pad.

Is 25" about the widest available?

I have the exped ul 9 synmat in LW and it fits me with room to spare. I'm 6'4 and 260 lbs and just in a 2xl shirt if that helps.

Therm-a-rest makes at least one model that is 30" wide, but they get heavy. I think the larger sizes they make are intended for car camping and comfort #1.

Thanks Shrek, I just ordered the SYNMAT UL 9 LW...not much heavier than the pad I have now but is 26" wide. That oughta do it.

Then at that point if it doesn't work, break out all that Boose you carry, take a few shots, and then a couple NyQuil pm tabs. At that point it won't matter what pad your on.

Yeah...and my hunt would begin at noon the next day.

Heck Lawn..... You do that too?

I'm thinking (perhaps erroneously) that if I inflate the pad less, I increase the insultative qualities some. Less air being easier to keep warm. I never fully inflate the pads for this (and comfort) reasons but am curious if this is a valid belief.

To me it seems the more I inflate the warmer. Look at how the neo air pads are designed, to hold air still and keep it warm.

I have felt cold spots when my pad got low on air where my body was closer to the ground

I have had the Big Agnes 25" and it has served me well for the last 4years. I am 6'4" and 200 to 220

Long wide 25"x78"x4" Big Agnes Q-Core here as well. I'm 250lb and sleep like a baby.
And yes a little Apple Pie and a Tylenol ER does help.
