InReachMessenger vs Messenger plus

Besides the photo/voice, was curious if just for text message, if the performance (speed, connection to network) is the same for these devices for texting or if the Plus is markedly better?
Anyone with real world experience in the 2? Or if you and someone you were in field with had different devicea amd noted any performance difference?

From what I have seen, one time the Messenger is faster, the next time the Mini 2 is, so I suspect it has more to do with visibility to the satellites.
