I didn't see this posted anywhere, but Garmin has an inReach upgrade program for those with the older Delorme products. 40% off a Mini 2 or Messenger, or 25% off the Messenger Plus (the GPS units are included too). My old Explorer is dying so I'm running the process- it does brick your old unit so read the terms before submitting anything.

Did you end up going through this process? Did they send you a unit after purchasing?

Yes. Pretty simple process, you just want to be sure before you start because they blacklist the IMEI of the old unit and you dispose of it.

My final cost was $256 after tax (Mini 2). I forgot to add that you ALSO get free activation on the new unit so that’s another $40 savings.

USPS of course lost the first shipment but Garmin expedited a replacement in 2 days.

Thanks for the report. Yeah that is a nice 40.00 savings on the back end too. I submitted it, since I have some time before my next hunt.
