Here's the situation I'm in, I bought my dad a used Delorme inreach explorer off ebay as a retirement gift. It's the same one I have thinking if I have to walk him through use it will be easier that way. Dad's worked 95% of the time (power button had to be pressed extra time on occasion) on a moose hunt. A month later getting ready for our deer hunt and it won't turn on and when it's plugged in the screen won't light up. Has anyone done repairs on theirs in the past. I already replaced the battery thinking its the most obvious but that didn't help (the original is putting out the correct voltage). I'm wondering now if it's the display screen. Any advice is appreciated.

That is an item I would buy new or send in, as opposed to tinkering with a non working one. I could just see myself at the bottom of an abyss with a broken leg and a non working inreach screaming WHY AM I SO CHEAP AND STUPID!!!!!!!
