had the mini and traded it off for the Explorer. I didn't like that I couldn't use it as a stand alone gps when not paying for service. There are times when I just want a GPS to mark blinds, feeders, etc and times when I need an emergency communicator. The Explorer does both for me.

Just bought a mini and am super super happy with it. I havent used it past 3 days but now that I have two kids, the peace of mind is worth it. Its neat that whenever you send a text, the person receiving it will get a link with your GPS coordinates and location linked to a map. Wife is stoked which in turn allows me to have more adventures
