my entire career has been in heavy construction.
some of the hardest working people i've ever met have been in the business. i've rarely looked at their ethnicity. they had me at their work ethics alone. learn Spanish? hell, yes!! most other countries i've visited; the citizens speak more than one language. only here in the USA are we handicapped by the single tongue for the most part. i think speaking more than one language alone shows intelligence.
i used to be fluent in Spanish, but i lost it. now i only have two languages in the wheel house. but thankfully, i can still hang on the jobsite with what little i have left.
Superintendent..i've never met an assistant to one. one thing for sure, your job is gonna be interesting!! eyes and ear open. you will be the newbie and your title doesnt mean a thing. learn from everyone, even from the lowest guy on the totem pole..
