I'm looking to upgrade my wife's pack for next season. I can get a brand new MR Woman's Metcalf for just over $360 which makes it very appealing but I've never had my hands on one.

So, anyone out there have any input on the womans metcalf?

I think the only difference is the straps and maybe waistbelt are curved differently making them more accommodating of the female anatomy. Other than that is there a difference between the Male and female packs?

My wife ran a Kuiu Icon Pro for multiple seasons and packed out elk meat with it multiple times. It did well for her, just never fit her perfect.
When MR came out with womens specific pack, i ordered it for her to test out over summer before this past September elk hunt.
She said really big difference was just the contoured straps fit her just right. So we kept it and sold her Kuiu.
This past September she once again put the MR to real test packing out elk meat. It did well loading the meat and cinching it up.
She said it did well and just fit better with a load because of the contoured straps.
That is our 1st hand experience for her.

Great info because that is the pack that she currently has as well.

I’ve never run a women’s specific pack, and never felt I was lacking but the above is great intel. Ultimately it’s whatever fits you well, pack fit regardless of gender is super specific kind of like boots. If the MR women’s pack contouring allows better fit, awesome.

I’m thrilled to see quality companies investing in gear to fit women’s needs. It’s about time.

I picked up the women's MR met calf for my wife for her birthday this year. Previously, she had been using an older kifaru pack that was a hand me down from me when I upgraded to a newer model. The kifaru worked fine for her and she packed out several mule deer and had no complaints, but she says the new MR just seems to fit her torso and body better. She hasn't packed out any animals with the new MR, but has used it for one hiking/camping trip and a couple times a week weighted for workouts. I can't imagine it won't function as well with meat attached. She said the straps fit better and the pack rides better and transfers weight to her hips better. She loves it!! Quite frankly, all bodies are different and it's about time more gear is being tailored towards women!!

Just ordered the female Metcalf. The customer support was very helpful. I'll be back to update and compare once we get this thing loaded in the field. Thanks again for all the input folks.
