incredible idiots

How is that going to get people to conform to his expectations? Logic disconnect.

You own it you can let , or not let , the people you want use the land and regulate what they may and may not do. On public land our bureaucratic overlords dictate the rules. If you set up by an open road for the most popular hunting season then you should expect traffic and all legal and some illegal activity. Campers , generators running , checking zero and some practice , boisterous talking at all hours. To call people idiots because they don't wish to hunt or armed camp as you do is obnoxious. For most members here hunting is attendance of our church but for your average hunter it's a chance to get away from the old lady and boss and hang with friends. Hike a few miles into the rough stuff and the only guys you are going to meet are the real competition. There's almost no place left on this rock to truly get away from people. The good news is the animals are still there and it's a matter of finding where they've hidden themselves.

That still doesn't get people to conform to his expectations on public land, which is what he was complaining about. Owning his own ranch is completely independent from that problem.

One of my favorite places to hunt I camp right off the main road. The elk bugle all night and even come through my camp at night. Until people start being stupid and/or inconsiderate of everyone else out there. Yes, there's lots of traffic (hunters but mostly non-hunters) and most are conscientious of good common sense for camping in the woods such as this, but there are always those few (or lots these days) that ruin that for everyone else. And yes, I'll call them idiots because that's what they are. You don't have to go far these days to find them everywhere in every walk of life. Just today I made the comment that perhaps these days God has contracted out Igor for brain acquisitions, and he's using all "abby normal" brains. From Young Frankenstein.

There is no way is what Shrek is saying to get people to conform on public, so his answer is buy land.

If we start regulating what people can and cannot do during hunting season before long we'll find we don't have much of one. Many people recreate on public lands year round that don't hunt. I have see two old guys just off the main road sighting in their 22 target rifles during archery season, how can we call them idiots because they don't hunt?

Not everyone will act the same, can't get your panties in a wad just because someone does something you don't like as long as it is legal. I hear all these crazy stories about people road hunting out of the back of a truck, I say if you can see that your too close :). That is just crazy and they should be turned in as that has to be illegal, take a pic and call it in because these types give us all a bad name to the ones using public lands that don't hunt.

Yea public land is tough, and I know the frustration. Although I've been on both sides. Had many hunts ruined on public lands, and ruined many hunts back country hiking off ridges, and different wilderness areas. Some times harassed by the hunters, calling me a liberal ( far from it ) because I'm hiking public game lands during hunting season. Little do they know, ignorance is bliss. I just keep on going. You gotta take public land as it comes. It's the only land that most of us got. Or yea, make a ton of money and buy a thousand acres, and keep it posted. Good Luck.

You shouldn't have to regulate. There used to be a day and age where people were considerate of all those around them, and not just do whatever the heck they wanted to do. But yes, that's the day and age we're living in today........just do whatever the heck YOU want to do in life and to heck with everybody else that it adversely affects.

That is 100% true, people have become self caring in our society, I blame Obama.

It is a zoo during archery season, funny that some think there is less pressure. Where I hunt every camping spot has a camper in it each year but I've found that 90% of them hunt the same general areas so it's easy to get away from most pressure. Just walk a few miles and the woods are quiet, I would think the same for rifle.

I have had this exact experience during rifle season in Colorado. Trailhead packed with campers and cars. Go three to five miles in and hunt for a week. Covered up in elk. Never saw another hunter. Packing an elk out and about a mile and a half form the trailhead bam hunters everywhere. Last year in the same area and there where two guys who packed in with lamas and camped about a mile from us. Nice guys I am skipping this year since I got married and used all my vacation days to go to Alaska on our honeymoon but will be back in the same general area next year.

So if you found a photographer taking pictures of elk you'd move on out of consideration of their activity?

I love public land!! But only when I have it all to myself!

That's a vibe I've got from this thread

I used to get mad when someone would be hunting in "my spot" or when a guy on a dirt bike would ride right through the middle of the area I was hunting, who would put a trail right where the elk are!?!?! But then I realized a couple things, 1. If the elk are in some of these spots, they are used to the traffic and are still there and still killable. 2. There are a lot of places I can go and not see anybody, and I have hunted some of the heaviest pressured places in Colorado OTC rifle hunts.

Anymore the only thing that I think I have gotten upset about is when a hunter is closing in on the same animal I am and they disregard the wind, or they try to run in front of me and just screw things up. Or if an anti hunter saw me hunting and ran around screaming in order to save his animal friends life. Other than that I can smile walk away and try again another day.

Don't get upset about what some guys might be doing that is legal, might not be ideal to what you are trying to do but there is nothing you can do about it, no reason to be mad. Instead of whining and complaining think about what you can do different to overcome the situation. That is what is wrong with the world today, people are complaining more and problem solving less.

If I find ANYBODY doing anything where I'm hunting, I have already moved on out to another area. But we're not talking about photographers here.........we're talking about idiots doing idiotic things without a care in the world about anything else. I don't consider someone taking pictures of nature as idiots. I guess some might, but that's their choice.

A few years ago there were well over 1000 gun shots over a two day period in one spot inside a wilderness area during the archery season in a draw unit. Even the warden was trying to locate these people. Gee, I guess it's perfectly legal so we should all be happy that they're using their public lands.

Running a generator all night and blasting a stereo that you could hear perfectly from 1/2 mile away until 11pm.........another great example of people legally using their public lands during archery season that we should all be very pleased with apparently.

Sorry, I just haven't caught up with the new times and the new generation of "acceptable" inconsideration. My bad.
