Inconsistent results from Hornady App?

Is anyone having issues with inconsistency in the Hornady app? Three of us that shoot together are getting variances in holdovers even when the exact same values are plugged into multiple phones. Also, we are having shifts when we close and open the app and even delete and reload it. Just hasn’t been trustworthy lately… any others having this issue?
Any suggestions for a better app?

I wound up dropping the $24.95 on the Eagle Ballistics app today and am happy with the features from an initial trial run. I just couldn’t trust the Hornady as each of us have had it give us different solutions from range session to session. 😖😖😖

All the app is, is math—if you are getting different results, it is a 100% certainty that something is different in your inputs. Weather, altitude, a setting, an input, etc.

Then you have far more trust in technology than do I. If you close the app and re-open it and the results change for multiple individuals then there might be an issue.
Also, even when scanning the QR code that allows you to port a profile to another user, the results will change on the scanned profile.
My apologies if I indicated that I was changing inputs… simply opening the app and expecting repeatable results.

Crazy you should mention this. I wasted almost a whole box of ammo due to an error in the app yesterday. It was being really wonky and was 4.5 moa off at 500 yards another ballistic calculator. Something I didn’t find out until after the session. I was in a near panic thinking I had a tracking issue on my new trijicon.

My issue was triple checked and was somewhat fixed when I put in the bullet information manually instead of from the Hornady menu. However, the Hornady app results in consistently high impacts for my rifles. High enough to be off my 10 inch plate at 500 yards.

No, you didnt indicate you were changing inputs. And, its not that I have any faith in tech, its just that in this case it truly is simply a math problem in the background…in order to get a different result, either the “formula” needs to change, or the inputs change. I dont use the hornady app, but unless it was updated between your data points the formula used to arrive at a solution didnt change. Do you have any data (weather, wind, elevation, etc) set to pull from the internet? Or does it revert to a saved set if data when you close the app? Either of those would affect a solution if a wx update had a different wind, different da from atmospheric pressure, etc. i do know the hornady app will give you different elevation solutions based on wind direction, so thats a possibility. I also dont know how that app works sharing profiles…does it use all the same data or does it use different gun info, diff weather and other settings on your buddies app? Again, that would affect solution. Usually these apps are good, with any problems being an input issue 99.9% of the time, even when you dont think it is.
