One of our guys is married to a girl from Hoopa. "Beanies" daughter if that rings a bell. He tells me it's beautiful up there and the fishing is good. He's been up there to help out when the salmon are running.

This is a bit off-topic but, I've been shot at by Hoopa Indians before. I was steelhead fishing on the Trinity River near the town of Weitchpec, just north of Hoopa, in Northern California. Oh, but that was many moons ago. Needless to say, they missed me.

There is some pretty cool mulie country in that area, those mtns south of susanville look promising every time I drove by there headed to off road races in Nevada.
I really liked that area north of Eagle Lake on the Lookout/Hwy 39 cut off road west of Alturas. I cannot remember the name of the creek but man that area I always saw deer during the late nights I drove through there.

You are describing my home brother. Yes very good areas for big California Mule Deer. Not to mention the fishing at Eagle is great in the fall/winter

WOW ! I thought they just didn't like me. LOL

I wouldn't doubt if we were parked at the same pull out. Sometime in the early 90s I was shot at as well.

My brother and I being young and a little crazy just considered it part of the adventure. I'm pretty sure they were just throwing rounds so we would leave. As I recall it was a great trip for 1/2 pounders. It is a pretty part of CA up there.

Ya Brandon Id love to troll me a nice broken back rapalla there in ohhh about late october.

October/November is our time to be out there. Me, the old lady, and my boy. He's the net man. Flies, jigs, and kastmasters work like a charm. The drive in is always good. We get to opportunity to find those big Muleys that made it through another season.
